What is Boxercise®:
Boxercise® is an exercise class based on the training concepts boxers use to keep fit. Classes can take a variety of formats but a typical one may involve shadow-boxing, skipping, hitting pads, kicking punchbags, press-ups, shuttle-runs and sit-ups. It is a great stress busting activity to suit everyone who wants to enjoy boxing training without physically hitting the opponent making it a safe workout. It combines the use of both aerobic and anaerobic energy systems with the systematic recruitment of both fast and slow twitch muscle fibres in a manner that not only ensures a diverse workout, but also enhances sports specific senses, including hand-eye co-ordination, balance and timing. Boxercise® classes are always fun, energetic and addictive. Classes are aimed at men and women of all ages and fitness standards.
Basic Boxercise® moves:
Jab – a fundamental move that involves a straight strike from your hand towards your target
Uppercut – a swipe with the goal being to hit the chin of your target
Hook – a short punch that aims for the body of your target
